Lewis Crawford is a freelance photographer based in Manchester with a clean, elegant approach to commercial and editorial work.
For me, photography has always been a form of expression. A way for creating immersive mood, encapsulating the sense of mystery and beauty through visual story telling. I was first introduced to the medium over ten years ago in secondary school, where I was given a DSLR and told to “go out and create something special”. Seeing the world for the first time through a viewfinder and experimenting with composition, dept of field and creative lighting allowed me to insulate my subjects and helped formulate order amongst all the chaos. Freezing moments of magic in time forever. Since then, I’ve became fascinated with the way a single frame can evolve emotion through creative visuals.
I’ve always loved being outdoors, whether in nature or wandering through urban spaces, and from a young age I was drawn to capturing moments that feel both personal and universal. There’s something magical about conveying ‘that feeling’ in a photograph. You know, that sense of serenity, the quiet still of standing on a mountain at sunrise, or the fleeting beauty of a moment you wish could last forever. My work is guided by these experiences, focusing on storytelling and creating images that evoke a connection with my audience. Through my commercial and editorial work, I strive to combine technical skill with emotional resonance, crafting images that are not only visually compelling but also meaningful.
